Restaurant & Bar

The resort offers a number of venues to quench your thirst and fill the family's bellies, be it a tasty snack or a slap-up Buffet Extravaganza, we are sure we can satisfy even the most discerning diner.

With such a wide choice of where to eat, it may take a few days to savour each facility made available to you at Magalies Park. The "Catalino's in the Park" Restaurant is a festive family restaurant for relaxed and leisurely meals, while the "Old Cape Vulture" Buffet Restaurant provides a traditional Sunday buffet open only on Sundays. After dinner drinks and sundowners can be enjoyed in the "Eagles Nest" Bar, situated in the Sports Centre.

Due to the "Houtkapper" burning down at the end of last year, "Catalino’s in the Park" Restaurant will be operating from the Sports Centre in conjunction with the "Loeries Flight" Take Away, until our new and improved restaurant re-opens in 2007.

River Cruises

The "Kolgans" was purchased by Loutjie van Aswegen in 1988 in Knysna on the Cape south coast. It was used on the lagoon as a ferry showing visitors to Knysna the different sites and was called the "Spirit of Knysna". It took three days to transport the vessel by road to Magalies Park and the only means of launching it into the Hartbeespoort Dam was by driving the truck into the dam until only the exhaust chimney on the cab stuck out of the water. The vessel weighs 4 tons and is 15 metres long and 4 metres wide. It is powered by two 90 horsepower motors and can accommodate 50 persons.

Your conference or holiday would not be complete without a cruise on the renowned Hartbeespoort Dam!

What could be better than toasting the sun setting on the oldest mountain range in the world, while you sip on your favourite drink. The trip on the "Kolgans" takes in the interesting sites along the dam's edge and at the same time fulfils you with natures wonders.

Regular cruises take place daily. Private cruises can be arranged through our Guest Services Department

Conference

This accolade was awarded to Magalies Park by "Leading Venues" and "Venue Finders" as a finalist in 1996 and 1997. Due to a fire in 1998 and the completion of a new convention centre in 1999, Magalies Park to date has not entered this competition again.

The relaxing ambience creates an atmosphere highly conducive to non-stress productivity and relaxation and provision is made by our professional banqueting staff, to meet all your requirements in a relaxing environment a world away from the hustle of city life.

Besides our conference facilities we have become renowned not only for our superb and homely setting, but for hosting a number of memorable wedding receptions. Our staff understands how important your special day is and will therefore ensure that everything lives up to your expectations.
